In the first contact you have with your team you should also schedule a brief parents meeting before your first practice. Please see the "First Team Meeting" checklist for items you may want to address at that first meeting.
One thing to address is the best way to communicate with your parents. Some do best with email, others do better with texting. You can use the "Team Contact" template to get the preferred contact information from parents.
Further, frequent communication is important. Try and send out at least one email to the team a week that includes at the very least the game time, field and color jersey for the week and the practice time and weather forecast for practice day. Texting works well for last minute practice cancellations.
Game day snacks are a fun part of the whole soccer experience. Coaches can use the "Snack Sign-up Sheet" to enlist parents help at least once during the session.
Along with volunteers to bring snack you should also get a parent or two to volunteer to assist in coaching. Life is hectic and you may not be able to make every game, it's your responsibility to find a suitable fill in should the situation arise. Keep in mind any assistant coach/helper will need their own set of clearances to fill in for you should you be absent.
